Title : Genetic Engineering of Multiple Stress Resistance in Apple Through Enhancement of Antioxidant Enzymes
نویسنده
چکیده
Objectives: During exposure to both biotic and abiotic stress, molecular oxygen can undergo reactions that result in the formation of reactive oxygen intermediates (ROIs) including singlet oxygen and highly reactive oxygen compounds such as hydrogen peroxide. ROIs and hydrogen peroxide are highly destructive to lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins. Collectively, the injury resulting from these reactive oxygen compounds is referred to as oxidative stress. In relation to fruit crops, oxidative stress plays a role in freezing and low temperature injury, sunburn (sunscald), and physiological scald. These are all major problems for the fruit industry and can significantly reduce fruit quality. Andrews and Johnson (1997) reported that sunburn on apples is a result of the combined effects of elevated temperatures and high light intensity both of which result in the formation of ROIs.

The effect of Melatonin pretreatment on growth responses and enhancement of the enzyme's antioxidant system in Chlorella vulgaris under stress of ionizing radiation
Melatonin has important roles in many growth and stress-related responsive processes in plants and algae. In this study, the mediating role of 100 and 500 µM melatonin on photosynthetic pigments and non-enzymatic antioxidant responses of microalga, Chlorella vulgaris to gamma irradiation stress has been studied. The result showed that the alga treated with 100 µM had a stable amount of chloroph...

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: Various environmental stresses, especially water deficit stress have several and major effects on maize growth and production. Drought is one of the abiotic stresses that due to the great variety of rainfall conditions, it is known from Iran as the most important factor limiting the growth and production of crops. Therefore, the effect of water def...
